Are Trading Signal Services Worth the Money?

By Bruno Nalon · · 2 min read

A signal service is worth it when the value it adds - better trades, fewer mistakes, time saved and skills learned - is clearly greater than what it costs. For some traders that is an easy yes; for others it is a clear no. Here is how to run the numbers for yourself.

What signal services typically cost

Prices vary widely. Many options alert services charge between $69 and $299 per month, and premium chat rooms or mentorship programs can cost more. Scanners and screeners sit in the middle, but leave the analysis to you.

EasyTrade offers a 30-day free trial, then Premium at $19 per month and Diamond at $24 per month. Annual billing includes one month free: $209 or $264 per year.

What you are really paying for

You are not paying for tickers - those are free everywhere. You are paying for a process: market scanning you do not have to do, consistent rules for picking trades, risk spelled out before you enter, and clear instructions on how to execute.

For beginners, the education is often the biggest value. A signal that explains why a strike was chosen and what can go wrong teaches you more than one that just says "buy".

Break-even math by account size

Divide the yearly subscription cost by your trading account to see the return you need just to cover it. A $99 monthly service costs $1,188 per year: that is about 48% of a $2,500 account, 24% of a $5,000 account and about 6% of a $20,000 account.

At $209 per year, EasyTrade Premium is about 8% of a $2,500 account and about 4% of $5,000. The smaller your account, the more the price of the service decides whether it can be worth it at all.

When a signal service is not worth it

Skip a service if the fee is a large share of your account, if it hides losing trades, if you cannot understand the strategy behind the signals, or if you will not have time to act on alerts.

It is also not worth it if you want someone else to take responsibility for your trades. Signals support decisions; they do not replace them.

A checklist before you subscribe

Before paying, confirm that the service: shows full closed-trade results including losses; states the max risk and max profit of every trade before you enter; explains the reasoning in plain language; offers a free trial long enough to see real trades; lets you cancel anytime; and has a real person behind it you can contact.

If a service passes this list and costs a small fraction of your account, the trial will tell you the rest.

Frequently asked questions

Is a cheaper signal service worse?

Not necessarily. Price reflects the business model more than signal quality. Judge a service by its published results, risk disclosure and transparency, not by its price tag.

How long should I test a service before deciding?

Long enough to see trades open and close. Options signals often last 21 to 45 days, so a short trial of a day or a week will not show you real outcomes. EasyTrade trades have closed in an average of 21 days, so the 30-day trial is long enough to watch real trades open and close.

Can I cancel EasyTrade anytime?

Yes. There is no long-term contract, and the 30-day free trial does not require a credit card.
